NEW YOUTH MEMBERSHIP SCHEME
To make the Club more accessible to a younger audience, the Membership Committee is excited to introduce a limited membership scheme starting December 24, 2015. This initiative allows for 50 new young members and requires upgrades on each applicable birthday, as outlined in the table below.
Overview
This scheme offers an attractive opportunity to join the Aberdeen Boat Club, enabling members to enjoy sailing, boating, and recreational activities while studying or beginning their careers.
Membership Details
– Age Groups: Membership is categorized by age, allowing members to access all club facilities. However, voting rights are not included.
Youth Membership is categorized by age, allowing members to access club facilities. Senior cadets may only access the Middle Island, while Junor and Young Members may access all club facilities. However, voting rights are not included.
– Membership Duration: Youth Membership becomes invalid upon reaching the age of 29.
– Transition to Associate Membership:
– Upon turning 30, youth members may convert their membership to Associate Membership by paying the difference between their previous membership fee and the current Associate Membership entry fee.
– Youth members who have maintained their membership for at least three years are eligible to apply for Associate Membership through a committee review. If approved, the upgrade will be offered free of charge. Applicants must demonstrate active participation in sailing or volunteer in ABC race support.
– For those with less than three years of membership, members may upgrade by paying the difference between their initial entrance fee and the current Associate Membership entry fee.
